The Triumph Of Vulgarity
In recent years there's been a lot of talk about the 'coarsening' of our culture, as if the nastier parts of life were something new, and as if crude potty-mouth humor (in this case, literally) had never been entertaining before.
And for what it's worth Howard Stern and Tom Green burning the midnight oil on methedrine-laced espresso couldn't have come up with anything as sublimely disgusting as this 1969 gem* from R&B legend Screamin' Jay Hawkins (a man who used to begin shows by leaping from a coffin in a cape with a bone through his nose).
From it's stammering rhythm to the deadpan hilarity of the vocals, this record is more fun than farting in church. Enjoy and be sure to get your daily fiber.
