Go for what you know...
124. Huey 'Piano' Smith & the Clowns "Don't You Just Know It"
In Robert DeNiro's directorial debut A Bronx Tale, set in that borough in the early 1960's, there's a scene where a bunch of street urchins run around making mischief as this song blares, and singing along with the nonsense syllable refrain.
And that's perfect since "Don't You Just Know It," creates a perfect atmosphere of anarchic fun, running along like hyperactive hyena, with it's booming drums, Smith's clangorous New Orleans piano, a great lead vocal from Bobby Marchan (who had a night job as a drag queen), and of course, that great "gooba, gooba, gooba, gooba ha ha ha ha" chant which means nothing, but says everything. If this song does't put you in the mind of a 3am party, I don't know what will.
